Michigan Wildflowers
Michigan Wildflowers
From summer lakes and sandy dunes to a winter snow-covered playground, Michigan's seasons are as beautiful as its diverse range of wildflowers. Our Michigan wildflowers are connected to our land and climate in ways that took thousands of years to form. Local bees, butterflies, and other pollinators often depend on these specific plants to survive. Getting outside and discovering them in the woods is always fun, but drawing these native wildflowers is my way of bringing attention to plants that deserve a little more care and conservation.
As winter gave way to warmer weather, before the trees bud, our woods began to wake and burst into splashes of color. I created a set of five Michigan wildflowers I found this spring. Trillium, Pink Lady's Slipper, Trout Lily, Spring Beauty, and Phlox were the ones that caught my eye and hold on to their beauty just a little longer after the blooms fade. I hope you enjoy my creative take on Trillium, Wild Blue Phlox, Pink Lady’s Slipper, Spring Beauty, and Trout Lily.
